It was Temagami's beauty and tranquility that brought Bob & Betty Louks from Hamilton to Temagami. Bob saw the need for a marina to service the region's island residents and established Temagami Marine in 1958. Temagami Marine was originally situated on the north side of Inlet Bay and in 1970 moved Temagami Marine to the south side where it is situated now.
After two decades in the marine business Bob & Betty began contemplating retirement but needed to be sure that whoever took over would continue the tradition of outstanding customer service and the upkeep of the friendly family oriented atmosphere that Temagami Marine was known for. They found those people in their first dock boy and now son-in-law and his wife Billie. Bill & Billie took over Temagami Marine in 1978.
After 45 years working at Temgami Marine and years of expansions, replacements and building programs, Bill decided it was time to start looking for new leadership. That search led to the sale of Temagami Marine to the Lamothe Family in 2007.
Andre spent 8 years as forklift operator and dock boy and became good friends with many of Temagami Marine's loyal customers. His friendly, smiling face was always a welcome sight pulling into the marina.
In the fall of 2014, tragedy struck Temagami Marine and some decisions had to be made. We had lost our friend Andre. May 2015 brings us to present and things have come full circle. Kim (Kitts) and Jim Krech are the "new" owners. They are excited and comfortable in their new positions and look forward to many years with some old friends they have come to know. The history of the Kitts Family and many of our loyal customers stems back more then 50 years in some cases.
The showrooms are full of Henley welded Aluminum Boats, Lund Boats, Cypress Cay Pontoon Boats, MirroCraft utility Boats, Mercury and Yamaha outboards and Easy Hauler trailers.
